I guess I should have seen that one coming, but the last post has been retracted. Evidently, I hit a nerve. Apologies to any unintended slight on Todd Pruitt's character. Apologies to those not part of the Reformed world involved in the issue for the assault on their Nicene Orthodoxy; I am really sorry you have to bear the continual and incessant questioning of your theological orthodoxy.

This is my blog, and in order to facilitate an edifying exchange, I have came up with various blog rules. Please do read them before commenting, as failure to abide by them would make your post liable to being unapproved for publication. Violation of any of the rules three or more times, or at the blog owner's judgment, would make one liable to be banned from posting unless the blog owner (me) is satisfied that such behavior would not occur again.

ReplyDeleteThe post was a direct criticism of Todd Pruitt in his attacks against EFS. It was retracted because they got my pastor involved.
ReplyDeleteI see. Well, I am not sure if this is accurate, but the first thing that came to mind in hearing your response is that it sounded very similar to the charges of pressure and influence against opponents that they have accused so-called "Big Eva"of.

ReplyDeleteIt reinforces my deep disappointment in the way they have engaged this whole issue. I am not sure if you are aware of the upcoming conference in November that RTS is holding, called "Confessing the Triune God: Retrieving Nicene Faith for Today's Church". One of the speakers will be Ligon Duncan, and I am very much looking forward to listening to the messages. My hope is that this whole issue will be addressed with the care and humility that has frequently been missing on the part of a number of the key individuals from Confessional side. I am particularly anxious to hear Dr. Duncan and the wisdom he will bring as a leading Reformed statesman. Here's the link to the event:

That's ironic. Trueman did a post complaining about how nameless bigwigs put pressure on Truitt. Now it looks like the Top Men who back MoS put pressure on your pastor. Seems like both sides resort to the same heavy-handed tactics.

ReplyDeleteyes, it is really deeply disappointing and discouraging. If they have handled this without all the allusion to heresy and sharp polemics, this would have been a much better and more constructive discussion. In fact, I might even be sympathetic to some of their concerns.
Yes, I am sure every subsequent talk on the Trinity would be scrutinized very heavily.

ReplyDeleteoh, the two are more alike than they want to admit it. It didn't however take the "bigshots" over at MoS, just one particularly influential guy from that camp.
