This comes from the Straits Times of Singapore under the Singapore Insight! section (Saturday, Oct 21st 2006):
This increase in religious fervour ... has the Reverend Yap Kim Hao worried.
The former Methodist bishop of Singapore speaks of the rise of what he calls "evangelical Christianity" in Singapore since the 1970s.
"There is the prevailing conservative theology which calls for conversion of people of other faiths and the claim that they have the one true way to salvation," says the Rev. Yap, a member of the Inter-Religious Organisation (IRO).
"But no one religion has the monopoly on absolute truth. Each religion can claim to be the true faith, but we don't have the complete understanding, therefore we need to have a dialogue with one another in continuously seeking the full truth."
Hmm... perhaps some verses that 'Reverend' Yap should seriously consider:
Jesus said to him, "I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. No one comes to [God] the Father except through me." (Jn. 14:6)
For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth. For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. For His invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse. For although they knew God, they did not honor Him as God or give thanks to Him, but they become futile in their thinking and their foolish hearts were darkened. Claiming to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and reptiles (Rom. 1:18-23)
as it is written:
None is righteous, no, not one; no one understands; no one seeks for God. All have turned aside; together they have become worthless; no one does good, not even one (Rom. 3:10-12)
Now we know that whatever the law says it speaks to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be stopped, and the whole world may be held accountable to God. (Rom. 3:19)
For there is no distinction: for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God (Rom. 3:22ff-23)
When the Spirit comes, he will guide you (believers) into ALL the truth. (Jn. 16:13a)
And there is salvation in NO ONE ELSE, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved. (Acts 4:12)
So what does the Bible say about those who do not acknowledge the truth of God, of which 'reverend' Yap belong to that category?
So Jesus said... "If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free." (Jn. 8:31-32)
If anyone does not abide in me he is thrown away like a branch and withers; and the branches are gathered, thrown into the fire, and burned. (Jn. 15:6)
If anyone has no love for the Lord, let him be anathema. Maranatha! (1 Cor. 16:22)
And finally, especially since he was a former bishop:
Children, it is the last hour, and as you have heard that antichrist is coming, so now many antichrists have come. Therefore we know that it is the last hour. They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us. But they went out, that it might become plain that they are not of us. (1 Jn. 2:18-19)
Enough said about this liberal heretic and unbeliever! 'Reverend' Yap, repent or face the wrath of God and the fires of hell in eternal damnation! Anathema sit!

ReplyDeleteDear brother daniel,
ReplyDeleteAgreed and Amen.
Dear Brother Jenson,
Haha. Agreed. Christians in Inter-Religious Organisation (IRO) are probably hypocrites every single one. This man is obviously the 'holiest'/ most powerful and hence choosen for this report.
Its false Christians that bring shame to the Lord.

ReplyDeleteEh... Jensopn,
ReplyDeleteIn a sense you are correct, but the fact of the matter is that Christians can always choose to suffer persecution by the government instead of succumbing to them. The fact that he didn't and has now apostasized indicates that he is at fault and is thus to blame. God will not hold the government accountable for his apostasy; but the person himself.

ReplyDeleteHmmm … I do agree that there is a certain degree of “overseeing” by a state near Batam. There were times when a man-in-black walks into the sanctuary in Life BP Church, hands akimbo, and struts around like a cat drenched with hot-oil. Timothy Tow was ever warned by “Atlantis” that he shouldn’t swim too deep into “that” part of the sea.
ReplyDeleteBut all in all, nothing is really coerced upon any Tans, Chees or Wongs to join a certain organization. He who joins do so in his own free will.
Question: Will a Christian sell his God for a piece of silver and a morsel of bread?
